Updated June 8, 2023 1:11 p.m.

Whether you’re a music lover heading to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park for Governors Ball or you’re off to the Belmont Stakes for the last event of the Triple Crown, public transit is the best way to get around.

One important thing to note: Alcohol is not allowed on LIRR trains, stations, or platforms from Friday at noon to 5 a.m. on Monday.

There are a few options for getting to the three-day music festival: Take the  to Mets-Willets Point, or the LIRR to the same station, which is on the Port Washington Branch.

Plan your subway trip with the MYmta app, or use the TrainTime app to see LIRR schedules and buy tickets.

If you’re taking LIRR, keep your paper ticket handy or have your activated TrainTime ticket available — it will be checked before you can enter or leave the station.

Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park
Saturday, June 10

There will be special LIRR service between Long Island Rail Road’s Manhattan terminals and Belmont Park. All trains from Penn Station and Grand Central will stop at Jamaica, where customers from Woodside, Brooklyn, and stations on Long Island can transfer for Belmont Park. If you’re coming from points north of the city, use Metro-North and transfer at Grand Central for the LIRR.

Tickets will be collected at Belmont Park after you arrive and before you board your return train. You can buy tickets on the TrainTime app, or at any ticket machine or ticket office.

After the Stakes, trains will run approximately every 15 minutes to Manhattan until the park closes. Once you get to the station, please board the next available train and transfer at Jamaica if necessary to reach your destination.

Please note that trains will not stop at Elmont-UBS Arena station between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Stakes day.
