Subway and rail service changes: October 7-10

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated October 7, 2022 10:00 a.m.

If the past week of gloomy, rainy, gray days made you feel like your energy was completely depleted, you're not alone. But we've got an antidote: fall foliage!

This weekend, Metro-North is running extra trains on the Hudson Line for folks who want to lean very hard into autumn by going leaf peeping. While leaves are just beginning to change, according to New York State's fall foliage report, it's still a lovely time to take in the views along the Hudson River and hit up cute towns like Tarrytown, Cold Spring, or Beacon. (Don't want to leave town? We recommend watching "When Harry Met Sally," which should give you your fill of fall vibes — without leaving your couch.)

As far as this weekend goes, here are some of the bigger service changes:

  •  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av
  •  trains aren't running between Crescent St and Jamaica Center
  •  trains aren't running between Lorimer St and Broadway Junction
  •  trains aren't running between Times Sq-42 St and Queensboro Plaza
  •  trains are rerouted on the   and   lines in Manhattan
  •  trains aren't running between Jefferson Av and Tottenville

For more detailed breakdowns, keep on scrolling — we’ve also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.

If you want to get these service changes in your inbox, sign up for the MTA Weekender, a newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get the same service changes you know and begrudgingly accept, but in your inbox and with GIFs. If that sounds enticing, you can subscribe right here
