EasyPay Options for MetroCard

Updated Jul 15, 2018

EasyPay is a convenient payment option for both full-fare and reduced-fare customers. The EasyPay MetroCard is linked to your credit or debit card, and refills automatically as you use it.

Create your EasyPay Account today, and you'll receive your new EasyPay MetroCard by mail in about three weeks.

Track your EasyPay account 24/7 by logging in to the EasyPay website or call 1-877-323-RIDE (7433), Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Note: Like any MetroCard, EasyPay cards have an expiration date on the back of the card. You’ll automatically receive a replacement card about one week prior to expiration. If you have not received your replacement card by this date, please contact us.)

Apply online now with a credit or debit card. Select either the EasyPay Pay-Per Ride option or the EasyPay Unlimited Ride option. Here’s how to decide which option is best for you.

If you choose the EasyPay option for Pay-Per-Ride:

  • You can ride any subway, local bus, or express bus.
  • Open your account with $30.
  • Earn a 5 percent bonus for every $5.50 added, so your account starts with $31.50
  • Your account automatically adds another $30 when your balance falls below $20.

If you choose the EasyPay option for 30-Day Unlimited Ride:

  • You can ride any subway or local bus, but not express buses.
  • Open your account with $121 (same price as a regular 30-Day MetroCard).
  • The card is activated when you first use it.
  • Near the end of the 30-day period, your credit or debit card will be charged $121 for the next 30 days, which will not begin until you swipe your card.
  • Before any new 30-day period begins, you will be notified by email and will have the option of changing your Unlimited Ride Card to a Pay-Per-Ride Card.
  • All MetroCards have an expiration date shown on the back. With EasyPay, you will be sent a new card automatically one week prior to the expiration date on your card.

Become a Reduced-Fare EasyPay Customer

Get the application for seniors 65 or older or for customers with disabilities, complete it and mail it back to us (be sure to include the EasyPay option). You’ll enjoy the combined benefits of the Pay-Per-Ride and Unlimited Ride options.

Here’s how it works:

  • You can ride any subway, local bus, or express bus.
  • Open your account with $10 with the Pay-Per-Ride option.
  • Earn a 5 percent bonus for every $5.50 added, so your account starts with $10.50.
  • Your account refills automatically when your balance falls below $10. (Note: Your refill amount may increase to cover the number of rides in your billing cycle. You will receive a notice of the new amount.)
  • Your EasyPay MetroCard automatically converts to an Unlimited Ride Card whenever the required number of subway or local bus rides has been reached in a 30-day cycle. So in any billing cycle, you never pay more than $60.50, same as the reduced-fare price of a 30-day Unlimited Ride Card.
  • There are no charges if you are not using your EasyPay MetroCard.
  • Note: Express bus fares do not count towards the automatic conversion to Unlimited Ride. They are added to your monthly total.
