If you're heading out of town on Long Island Rail Road or Metro-North this weekend, we've got good news: We'll be running extra trains on Friday, September 2 to accommodate holiday travelers. Get details on those below.
Another good thing to know: LIRR will run a weekend schedule on Monday. The extra westbound trains on the Montauk Branch that typically run on Sunday afternoon will run on Monday instead. Metro-North will run a Sunday schedule on Monday.

Long Island Rail Road
Babylon Branch
On Friday, September 2, four extra eastbound trains depart Penn Station for Babylon between 2:14 p.m. and 3:31 p.m.
- 2:14 p.m. runs nonstop to Rockville Centre, then makes all stops to Babylon.
- 2:32 p.m. runs nonstop to Lynbrook, then makes all stops to Babylon.
- 3 p.m. stops at Jamaica and Rockville Centre, then makes all stops to Babylon.
- 3:31 p.m. runs non-stop to Rockville Centre, then makes all stops to Babylon.
Far Rockaway Branch
On Friday, September 2, one extra eastbound train departs Penn Station at 3:48 p.m. and operates nonstop to Locust Manor, then makes all stops to Far Rockaway.
Port Jefferson Branch
On Friday, September 2, four extra eastbound trains depart Penn Station between 12:52 p.m. and 3:24 p.m., and the 2:26 p.m. train to Hicksville is extended to Huntington.
- 12:52 p.m. stops at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, and Hicksville, then makes all stops to Ronkonkoma.
- 1:49 p.m. stops at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, and Hicksville, then makes all stops to Ronkonkoma.
- 2:08 p.m. stops at Jamaica and Mineola, then makes all stops to Huntington.
- 3:24 p.m. stops at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury, and Hicksville.
Port Washington Branch
On Friday, September 2, one extra eastbound train departs Penn Station at 3:40 p.m. and makes all stops to Great Neck.
Ronkonkoma Branch
On Friday, September 2, two extra eastbound trains depart Penn Station at 12:52 p.m. and 1:49 p.m.
- These trains stop at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, and Hicksville, then make all stops to Ronkonkoma.
Metro-North Railroad
Harlem Line
On Friday, September 2, an extra train to Southeast departs Grand Central Terminal at 1:16 p.m. and an extra train to North White Plains departs Grand Central Terminal at 1:52 p.m.
- 1:16 p.m. first stop White Plains, then makes all stops to Southeast (except Mt. Pleasant).
- 1:52 p.m. stopping at Melrose, then makes all stops to North White Plains.
Hudson Line
On Friday, September 2, three extra trains to Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie depart Grand Central Terminal between 1:18 p.m. and 2:18 p.m.
- 1:18 p.m. first stop Croton-Harmon, then makes all stops to Poughkeepsie (except Manitou).
- 1:50 p.m. stopping at Yankees-E 153rd St, then makes all stops to Croton-Harmon.
- 2:18 p.m. first stop Croton-Harmon, then makes all stops to Poughkeepsie (except Manitou).
Extra Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry departures connect with the 2:43 and 3:21 p.m. trains from Grand Central Terminal.
Extra Newburgh-Beacon Ferry departures connect with the 2:43, 3:18, and 3:48 p.m. trains from Grand Central Terminal.
Port Jervis Line
On Friday, September 2, the 2:41 p.m. train from Hoboken to Middletown-Town of Wallkill is extended to Port Jervis.
