Subway and rail service changes: July 7-10

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Another summer weekend is upon us. 😎

An important heads-up for   riders: This weekend, Brooklyn-bound  trains are running on the express track from Jamaica-179 St to Forest Hills-71 Av. After this service change ends on Monday morning, Brooklyn-bound   trains will continue running express from Parsons Blvd to Forest Hills-71 Av 24/7 through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 4th. For service to/from Sutphin Blvd, take a Queens-bound train and transfer. For service at Briarwood and 75 Av, take   trains (which will stop here 24/7 in the Manhattan-bound direction).

If you're jetting out of town, keep in mind that   trains aren't running to or from Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK all weekend. Your best options for getting to or from the airport are taking the   to Howard Beach-JFK Airport, the   to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK, or the LIRR to Jamaica.

Here's what else is happening:

  • Downtown   trains aren't stopping at 14 St
  •  trains aren't running between 135 St and 3 Av-149 St
  •  trains aren't running at all
  •  trains aren't running between 149 St-Grand Concourse and E 180 St
  • Manhattan-bound   trains are running on the   line from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq
  • Brooklyn-bound   trains are running on the   line from 59 St-Columbus Circle to 34 St-Herald Sq, and the   line to Jay St-MetroTech
  •  trains are running every 15 minutes
  •  trains aren't running between Briarwood and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer
  •  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av

Major subway service changes

 trains, Manhattan

Downtown  trains are not stopping at 14 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday while we make accessibility upgrades.

  • Consider using nearby stations at:
    • 14 St 
    • 18 St 
  • You can also take an uptown  train to 34 St-Penn Station and transfer.
  • Downtown   trains will make express stops from 18 St to Chambers St. For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown train.

 trains, Manhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains are not running between 135 St in Manhattan and 3 Av-149 St in the Bronx;   trains are not running at all; and   trains are not running between 149 St-Grand Concourse and E 180 St. This is because of accessibility work.

Free shuttle buses are running between 135 St and 3 Av-149 St, and are stopping at 145 St  . Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.

  •  trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College and 135 St, then via the   line to/from Harlem-148 St, bypassing 145 St in both directions.
    • Between 3 Av-149 St and Wakefield-241 St.
  •  trains are not running at all.
    • For service to/from   stations, take the   or   train.
  •  trains are extended to New Lots Av all weekend
  •  trains are running between Bowling Green and 149 St-Grand Concourse, bypassing 138 St-Grand Concourse northbound, and between E 180 St and Dyre Av.
  • For service to/from 138 St-Grand Concourse, take the  .

 trains, Manhattan and Queens

 trains are not running between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards in either direction from 11:45 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday because of track maintenance.

  • Free shuttle buses are running in two sections:
    • Q93: Between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av.
    • Q92: Between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Times Sq-42 St
    • Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  •  trains are running between Queensboro Plaza and Flushing-Main St.
  • For service between Manhattan and Queens, take   trains.
  • 42 St Shuttle   trains will run overnight.

Queensboro Plaza-bound  trains are running on the express track from Mets-Willets Pt to 74 St-Broadway from 3:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 3:45 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station improvement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Flushing-bound train.
  • Reminder: The Manhattan-bound platforms at 111 St and 82 St-Jackson Hts are closed 24/7 through Fall 2023 for rehabilitation work.

   trains, Manhattan and Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound   trains are running on the   line from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from High St, use the nearby York St   station.
  • For service to/from Fulton St, take the   to/from Delancey St-Essex St. Transfer between   and   trains at Delancey St-Essex St.
  • For service to/from Spring St, Canal St, and Chambers St/World Trade Center, take the   train. Transfer between   and   trains at W 4 St-Wash Sq. Note: Only uptown   service is available at Spring St.
  • As an alternative for service between Brooklyn and lower Manhattan, take the   from Jay St-MetroTech to Cortlandt St. Transfer between   and   trains at Jay St-MetroTech.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday, Brooklyn-bound   trains are running on the   line from 59 St-Columbus Circle to 34 St-Herald Sq, and then via the   line to Jay St-MetroTech. This is because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from 50 St, take the   train. Transfer to/from the   at 7 Av.
  • For service to/from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal, 34 St-Penn Station, 14 St, Canal St, Fulton St, and High St, take the   train.
  • For service to/from 23 St and Spring St, take an uptown train, or use nearby   train stations. Note: Only uptown   service is available at Spring St and 23 St.
  • Reminder:   trains don't run overnight.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, downtown   trains are running on the express track from:

  • 59 St-Columbus Circle 
  • 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal 

to Canal St. This is because of structural maintenance. For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown train.

Reminder: Board downtown   trains on the express platform at 34 St-Penn Station.

   trains, All boroughs

 trains are running every 15 minutes all day Saturday and Sunday. Trains are sharing tracks between DeKalb Av and 36 St while we perform station improvement work.

  • You may experience a longer wait for your train.

 trains, Queens

 trains aren't running between Briarwood and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical improvement work.

  • Free shuttle buses are running between Kew Gardens-Union Tpke and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  •  trains are running between World Trade Center and Briarwood, and via the   to/from Jamaica-179 St.
  • For direct service to/from JFK Airport, take the   to Howard Beach-JFK Airport, the   to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK, or the LIRR to Jamaica.
  • LIRR will accommodate MetroCard users at no additional cost at Penn Station, Woodside, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, and Jamaica.

Manhattan-bound   trains are running on the express track from Parsons Blvd to Kew Gardens-Union Tpke from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical improvement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Jamaica-bound train.

 trains, Brooklyn

 trains are not running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization work.  

  • Free F1 shuttle buses are running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  • For direct service to/from W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the   train.
  • For direct service to/from Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take   trains.
  •  trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

 trains, Bronx

Woodlawn-bound  trains are not stopping at Bedford Park Blvd-Lehman College from 5:45 a.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from Bedford Park Blvd-Lehman College, take a Manhattan-bound train.

 trains, Bronx

Pelham Bay Park-bound   trains are running on the express track from Parkchester to Pelham Bay Park from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station improvement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • Reminder: The Pelham Bay Park-bound platform at Westchester Sq-E Tremont Av, which has been closed 24/7 for station improvement work, will re-open on Monday, July 10 at 5 a.m.

 trains, Manhattan and Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound  trains are running on the  line from Dekalb Av to Canal St from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • Manhattan-bound trains will make all stops from Dekalb Av to Canal St.
  • Reminder: At Canal St, board uptown   trains on the   platform.

 trains, Queens

Astoria-bound   trains are running on the express track from Queensboro Plaza to Astoria Blvd from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Port Washington Branch

Trains are not running between Great Neck and Port Washington in either direction from 12:45 a.m. Saturday to 12:45 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • Buses are running between Great Neck, Manhasset, and Port Washington.
  • There is no service at Plandome. As an alternative, use the Manhasset bus stop.
  • Trains are running between Manhattan and Great Neck on a regular weekend schedule.
  • The last trains to run on Friday night are the 11:43 p.m. from Grand Central and the 12:40 a.m. (Saturday morning) from Port Washington.
  • Service resumes on Monday morning with the 12:17 a.m. from Penn Station and the 2:08 a.m. from Port Washington.

Metro-North Railroad service changes

Harlem Line

Trains are not stopping at Williams Bridge in either direction 24/7 through July 12 because of stair replacement work.

  • Use the nearby Botanical Garden station instead.
  • Metro-North tickets will be accepted on the Bx41 bus for service between Botanical Garden and Williams Bridge.

New Canaan Branch

Trains are not running between New Canaan and Stamford in either direction 24/7 through Friday, September 1 because of track maintenance and bridge repair work.
