Busing on Weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and All Day on Weekends

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that beginning on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 a.m. and continuing through Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3 a.m., buses will replace midday weekday trains and all weekend trains on the Port Jervis Line as crews from Metro-North Railroad and NJ TRANSIT work to replace 10,000 wood cross-ties, three switches and perform track joint welds. The work will enable the rail line to remain in a state of good repair, with new ties expected to last for 30 years.

During this time, trains will operate normally between Suffern and Hoboken. Customers traveling to or from stations beyond Suffern will be able to transfer between trains and buses at Ramsey Route 17 Station.

Customers should allow for extra travel time.

Buses will replace trains as follows:

  • 4 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, through 12:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12
  • Weekdays beginning Monday, Sept. 12, until Friday, Nov. 11, from approximately 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Weekends beginning Saturday, Sept. 17, until Monday, Nov. 7, from approximately 12:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m.
  • From 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, until 3 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13
