MTA Commuter Railroads Announce Service Updates Effective Monday, April 10

Metro-North Resumes Normal Hudson Line Weekday Service

Long Island Rail Road Implements Some Service Adjustments

 

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Metro-North Railroad and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) today announced updates to service effective Monday, April 10.

Metro-North Railroad
Metro-North Railroad is restoring full, normal Hudson Line weekday service following repairs to tracks north of Beacon that were damaged by a CSX freight train last Friday, March 31. Crews worked around the clock to restore 11 miles of double track between Beacon and Poughkeepsie, along with repairs to switches near Beacon.

Long Island Rail Road
The Long Island Rail Road will implement several adjustments to service across five branches based on ridership trends. Key details of service changes are below.

Babylon Branch
The 7:38 a.m. train from Wantagh to Penn Station will originate in Babylon at 7:23 a.m. After departing Babylon, the train will run express to Wantagh.

City Terminal Zone
The 7:28 a.m. train from Grand Central to Far Rockaway will no longer stop at Woodside. For service to Woodside, take the 7:19 a.m. from Grand Central. For service from Woodside, take the 7:37 a.m. train towards Ronkonkoma and transfer in Jamaica.

Montauk Branch
The departure times at a few stations from Speonk and points east have been adjusted by up to six minutes to improve reliability. Customers are advised to check the TrainTime app to confirm their train’s departure time.

The 5:48 a.m. train from Montauk to Long Island City will depart Montauk four minutes earlier at 5:44 a.m.

Port Jefferson Branch
The 6:57 a.m. train from Huntington to Grand Central will add a stop at New Hyde Park at 7:29 a.m.

The 3:15 p.m. train from Long Island City to Port Jefferson will run express from Mineola to Huntington, bypassing Hicksville.

  • For service to Hicksville, customers can transfer at Jamaica to the 3:52 p.m. Ronkonkoma-bound train.
  • For service from Hicksville, customers can take the 3:58 p.m. train to Huntington. Transfer at Huntington for service to points east.

Port Washington Branch
The 5:07 p.m. train from Penn Station to Port Washington will operate express from Bayside to Great Neck, bypassing Douglaston and Little Neck. Instead, these stops will be added to the 5:10 p.m. from Penn Station to Great Neck.
