New Afternoon Through-Trains from Brooklyn Added

Schedules Available Online and in the TrainTime App in Early January

MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) today announced that new schedules will go into effect Monday, Jan. 22, with targeted changes to rush hour schedules. These changes respond to customer requests for additional through-trains from Brooklyn in the afternoon and align service to match data on when people are riding. There are no changes to midday, evening, or weekend schedules.

“We consistently monitor ridership and customer feedback to best accommodate the patterns we were seeing as quickly as possible,” said Acting LIRR President Rob Free. “The January schedule is designed to create the best possible commute for our customers. We will continue to monitor and make adjustments when possible.”

Major changes are outlined below. Detailed schedules will be available on the TrainTime app and the LIRR’s schedules page in early January. The LIRR recommends that all riders check for possible minor changes that may affect their departure and/or transfer times.
