Hundreds of transit fans joined the New York Transit Museum today for this year’s Parade of Trains celebration in South Brooklyn. Passengers rode on several of the Transit Museum’s historic train cars between the Brighton Beach and Kings Highway stations for the price of a MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap.

The Parade of Trains included several vintage train cars from the New York Transit Museum’s collection, including the BU Gate Cars, BRT/BMT Standards, and IND R1/9s.

The Parade of Trains offers a rare chance to relive the past and immerse riders in the charm of yesteryears. Vintage train passengers sat on rattan seats, held onto the leather straps and handholds, and read vintage advertisements. The Parade of Trains continues tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 10, between the Brighton Beach and Kings Highway stations, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the price of subway fare.

Riders may only board the vintage trains at the Brighton Beach station platforms and Kings Highway Manhattan-bound platform. All boarding and exiting of trains at Brighton Beach will take place on the interior two platforms. All boarding and exiting of trains at Kings Highway will be on the Manhattan-bound platform. Each roundtrip will be approximately 20 minutes, and riders can expect wait times between rides. Vintage equipment is subject to change.

Accessibility: Kings Highway is an ADA-accessible station with an elevator to the Manhattan-bound platform located on the south side of Kings Highway, west of 16th St. Passengers should check the MYmta app and visit the MTA's Elevator and Escalator Status page before traveling for real-time elevator status information. The elevator for Kings Highway station is located between 15th St. and 16th St. There is no elevator at the Brighton Beach station. Most, but not all, of the vintage train cars are wheelchair accessible.
