Railroad Advises Customers to Check TrainTime App Before Traveling

UPDATE 5:45 p.m.: The crashed truck has been removed and service to Port Washington is resuming with residual delays.

MTA Long Island Rail Road is advising Port Washington Branch customers to anticipate delays and cancelations during today’s PM rush, with service suspended east of Great Neck, due to an oversize box truck striking a 9’0” bridge in Plandome that carries the tracks over Stonytown Road. The truck became wedged under the bridge.

LIRR crews are inspecting to ensure it is safe for trains to operate over the bridge and will perform any repairs as necessary to allow safe travel.

The MTA Police Department responded to coordinate removal of the truck from under the bridge and issued citations to the driver of the box truck.

NICE Bus is cross-honoring LIRR fares along the Port Washington Branch on the N20h, N21, N23 and N27 buses.

LIRR customers should check the TrainTime app before traveling for latest updates to schedules.
