Neal Zuckerman is a senior partner and managing director in the New York office of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management consulting firm and advisor on business strategy with 81 offices in 48 countries. His professional advisory work is centered on large-scale change for companies in industries undergoing significant disruption, using strategic and financial levers. He works predominantly with media and entertainment companies and serves as head of the firm's media practice. Prior to BCG, Zuckerman served in related roles at Time Warner and McKinsey & Company.
Zuckerman is a resident of Garrison, New York (the station from which he commutes on Metro-North). He was recommended by the Putnam County Executive, MaryEllen Odell, and appointed by Governor Cuomo, in June 2016 to serve in the Putnam County seat of the MTA. He previously served on the MTA board in the Metro-North Railroad Commuter Council (MNRCC) seat from June 2014 to June 2016; he served in the Putnam County seat on the MNRCC from 2010 through June 2016, as well as the Council's vice-chair.
In other development and cultural roles, Zuckerman is a member of the Board of Trustees of National Public Radio (NPR) in Washington, D.C., and, in Putnam County, is a member of the Philipstown Planning Board, a trustee of the Desmond-Fish Library, and a former president and trustee of the Putnam County Historical Society. He is also the former chair of New York Public Radio's Community Board of Advisors.
Prior to his business career, Zuckerman was a Captain in the U.S. Army, serving as a helicopter pilot and in various staff roles, including safety responsibilities. He has a VA-rated, service-connected disability from his decade in the U.S. Army. Zuckerman holds a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
