Subway and rail service changes: June 28-July 1, 2024

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and Happy Pride! If you're attending NYC Pride this Sunday, note that some entrances at the 14 St  and 23 St  stations will be exit-only or entrance-only.  trains will run more frequently Sunday evening to accommodate Pride crowds.

We have important news for  riders about major service changes this summer. From tonight until September 3,  service will be partly suspended in three phases because of signal modernization work. During the first phase, which begins at 9:45 p.m. tonight and lasts until 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 5,  trains aren't running between Court Sq and Nassau Av. And if you're headed to the Rockaways Rockaway Park Shuttle service will be extended to Rockaway Blvd  station during weekends from this Sunday through Labor Day weekend, including Thursday, July 4 and Monday, September 2 (Labor Day).

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •  ​trains aren't running between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St and are replacing ​ trains between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St.
  •  trains are running in two sections.
  •  trains aren't running between Court Sq and Nassau Av.
  •  trains aren't running between 36 St, Brooklyn and Bay Ridge-95 St.
  • Queens-bound ​ and late-night ​ trains are running on the ​ from DeKalb Av to Canal St.

Major subway service changes

 trains, the Bronx

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday,  trains aren't running between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St in either direction and are replacing  trains between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St in both directions. This is because of structural maintenance. 

  • For service between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St, take free shuttle buses, which are making all  stops.
    • As an alternative, consider taking crosstown buses to  stations.
  • For service between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, take the .
  •  trains are running between Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College and E 180 St, and on the  to/from Eastchester-Dyre Av.
  •  trains are running between E 180 St and Bowling Green, every 20 minutes during the day and evening.

​ trains, the Bronx and Manhattan

​ trains are running in two sections from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance. 

  •  trains are running:
    • Between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St and on the  to/from 149 St-Grand Concourse, every 8 minutes during the day and evening. Uptown trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse.
    • Between 125 St and Pelham Bay Park, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
  • Transfer at 125 St to continue your trip.

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at Parkchester from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of escalator replacement.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound train.

 trains, Brooklyn and Queens

  • From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 5,  trains aren't running between Court Sq and Nassau Av in either direction because of signal modernization work.
  • For service between Court Sq and Nassau Av, take free B94 shuttle buses, which are making all  stops.
    • Re-enter the subway with OMNY or MetroCard at Court Sq or Nassau Av.
  •  trains are running between Nassau Av and Church Av.

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

 trains aren't running between 36 St, Brooklyn and Bay Ridge-95 St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service between 36 St and Bay Ridge-95 St, take free shuttle buses, which are making all  stops.
    • For service to/from 45 St and 53 St, you can also take a Coney Island-bound .
    • For service to/from 59 St, you can also take the .
    • When exiting the subway at 36 St or 59 St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • During the day and evening,  trains are running between Forest Hills-71 Av and 36 St, Brooklyn and on the  to/from 9 Av.
  • During late nights,  trains aren't running.

Manhattan-bound  local trains are making express stops between 59 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr during late nights from Friday night to Monday morning because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from 53 St and 45 St, take a Coney Island-bound .
  • For service to/from 25 St, Prospect Av, 4 Av-9 St, and Union St, take the .

Queens-bound  and late-night  trains are running on the  from DeKalb Av to Canal St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural improvement work.

  • For service to/from Jay St-MetroTech and Court St, use nearby Borough Hall .
  • For service to/from stations between Whitehall St and City Hall, use nearby  stations.
  • At Canal St, uptown  and late-night  trains are stopping at the  platform.

Other subway service changes

 trains, the Bronx and Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at Bay 50 St and 25 Av from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Coney Island-bound train.

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at 182-183 Sts from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take a 205 St-bound train.

 trains, Queens

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at 169 St and Sutphin Blvd and Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at Briarwood from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization

  • For service to/from 169 St, take the Q1, Q2, Q3, Q17 or Q36 buses.
  • For service to/from Sutphin Blvd, take a 179 St-bound .
  • For service to/from Briarwood, take a Jamaica Center-bound  or 179 St-bound .

 trains, Brooklyn

Coney Island-bound  trains are making express stops from Prospect Park to Sheepshead Bay from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of electrical improvement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train. 
  •  trains are running every 10 minutes during the day and evening.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Far Rockaway and Long Beach branches

Trains aren't stopping at Locust Manor, Laurelton, and Rosedale in either direction from 11 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday because of accessibility improvement work.

  • Buses are running hourly between Jamaica and Valley Stream, stopping at Locust Manor, Laurelton, and Rosedale.
  • Long Beach Branch trains are running on revised schedules.

Port Jefferson Branch

Trains aren't running between Hicksville and Port Jefferson in either direction from 10 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Monday because of switch replacement and bridge repair work.

  • Buses are replacing trains between Hicksville and Port Jefferson.
  • To avoid busing, consider using stations on the Ronkonkoma Branch.
  • Oyster Bay and Ronkonkoma Branch trains are running on revised schedules.
