Subway and rail service changes: December 15-18

There are service changes on the subway and Long Island Rail Road this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated December 15, 2023 9:30 a.m.

Happy Friday! A warmer weekend is ahead of us, so why not spend some of that time outside? MTA Away has suggestions for festive things to do in our region this winter, some of which — ice skating! gardens! — would be perfect on a mild Saturday. (And don't forget about the Nostalgia Train, which is chugging along on Saturdays until December 30.)

If you're a regular  rider, please note that due to maintenance, train arrival information won't display on in-station signs or in apps overnight tonight. Listen for announcements, or reach out to us on WhatsApp if you have questions about service.

Here's what else is happening (also viewable as a map):

  •  trains aren't running between 137 St-City College and Dyckman St
  •  trains aren't running between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Norwood-205 St
  •  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St
  • trains and overnight  local trains are running on the  line between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Canal St

For more detailed breakdowns, keep on scrolling. We’ve also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.

And don't forget to sign up for the MTA Weekender, a newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get these service changes directly in your inbox, with more than enough time to plan your weekend travel. Subscribe here.
